The Wadsworth Atheneum is seeking an Accountant, whose primary responsibilities include budget projections, endowment management and payroll processing.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Endowment Management
Report monthly endowment results; preparation of financial statements regarding performance; creation of new methods for accounting and analyzing the endowment; and preparation of monthly drawdowns for general ledger posting.

Payroll Processing

Responsible for accurate payroll processing on a bi-weekly basis through Paychex.

Projections

Maintain up to date financial operating projections and maintain related Excel tools; ensure Financial Edge has all relevant approved projections.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience
• Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or Finance and minimum of five (5) years’ of related work experience. Payroll processing experience, preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Solid understanding of the relationships between numbers; the ability to organize information; logical thinking; calculation skills; measurement and data analysis.
• Excellent attention to detail; organizational skills; focus oriented; and good time management skills.
• Advanced level Excel skills, including creating and using pivot tables, and vlookups. Experience in Microsoft Office; experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge preferred.
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters with the utmost discretion.
